About Blue

I am Blue, a tattoo artist in Lansing Michigan. I specialize in full color, art nouveau inspired tattooing that flows with your body.

I am a born and raised Michigander with a background in various art mediums. Outside of tattooing, I enjoy watercolor, drawing, photography, skating, longboarding, camping and playing video games. I have a cat named Pumpkin that I regularly feature on my instagram stories.

I listen to all types of music (doesn’t everyone say that?) but my favorite musical artist of all time is Tame Impala.

my style of tattooing

My style of tattooing is heavily inspired by Art Nouveau (Alphose Mucha is my favorite artist).

In more general terms my style falls under illustrative neotraditional. Meilse Hill coined the term NeoNouveau, Or NeoTraditional Nouveau that I believe my work falls under.

I started as an American Traditional artist, and I still from time to time take on that style of tattooing at a request.

A lot of my work is based in portraiture, florals, and occult, celestial, or medieval themes. I love tattooing lady heads the most, and it is a recurring subject in my work.

I prefer to tattoo in color as I think my work looks best that way, but can do black and grey at a request.

As far as during your appointment, I can don’t mind talking the whole time, or staying silent. My default is silence just because I lock in, but I love yapping when the time comes. I usually will let the client take the lead.

Apprencticeship timeline

I started my apprenticeship in January of 2024 at Devils Day Tattoo, under my mentor and owner Ferg Ferguson. Every apprenticeship is different, I graduated mine in November 2025. I love talking about the technical side of tattooing, and apprenticeships in general so feel free to ask anything at your appointment!
